Whenever friends, family or travelers I’ve met along the way tell me they’re going to Chiang Mai, I frantically tell them about this Chiang Mai restaurant. I want to scream it from the rafters so everyone knows about it and hopefully gets to experience it for themselves.
People love to say “this is the best restaurant” or “this is my favorite restaurant in the whole world”. Usually it’s just hyperbole, but this restaurant deserves ever ounce of hype it receives.
This post is all about the best Chiang Mai restaurant!
What is it called and what should i order?

Khao Soi Mae Sai (or Khao Soi Maesai) is the name of this lovely Chiang Mai restaurant. No matter how hot of a day it is in Chiang Mai, this warm and delicious bowl of noodles is sure to please.
While traveling in Chiang Mai, we went to this restaurant 3 separate times because it really was that good.
What To Order: Get the chicken Khao Soi and pair it with a Thai milk tea.
The Khao Soi broth is so flavorful and is packed full of delicious, chewy egg noodles, fall of the bone chicken and crispy fried egg noodles on top. The dish comes with a plate of pickled mustard greens, raw onion and fresh limes. You should definitely try all of the sides added in because it rounds out the dish perfectly.
The amount of spice in the dish (for me) requires it to be paired with the sweet, creamy and always refreshing Thai milk tea. This combo is a match made in heaven.
If you are a firm believer of the “when in Rome” concept, then eating Khao Soi in Chiang Mai is for you. The dish originated here in Northern Thailand.
Things to know

Getting There: The restaurant is located outside of the fortified old city of Chiang Mai. Depending on where you are in the city you may want to take a short tuk tuk ride to get you to the restaurant!
Pricing: The 9 different entree options range in price from 50-55 Baht or ($1.50-$1.67 USD).
Hours: The restaurant is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM everyday, but they’re closed on Sunday
My Recommendation: You should go on your first day in Chiang Mai. This means that you’ll potentially have the ability to come back again before leaving Chiang Mai!
