Fantastic Places to Visit in February

Looking for places to visit in February?

February is when I’m always itching to travel. The dreary weather that can feel never ending, so February is the perfect time for a reset! Relax on the beach, shred the fresh powder on the slopes or explore a new city that’s packed with fabulous street food.

I chose these three destination based on:

1. Places I’ve personally loved to traveling to
2. When the weather is nice (not too hot and not too cold)
3. When it isn’t the peak tourism season, so that you can beat the crowds and avoid exorbitant prices.

This post is all about the best places to visit in February!

1. Puerto vallarta, mexico

Puerto Vallarta is an artsy and picturesque city located on the western side of Mexico. Grab an agua fresca at the Saturday market and peruse the amazing food and artisan stalls. Take a boat taxi from the pier in town to one of the more remote beaches like Yelapa or Majahuitas. Go on a taco tour of the city and experience the unbelievable flavors of Jalisco’s Tacos de Birria, tacos de cabeza and tacos al pastor. The number of things to see, eat and do while in Puerto Vallarta is truly endless.

Why did I choose this city as one of the best places to visit in February?

• Weather: February in Puerto Vallarta is generally absolute paradise. The average temperature is around 80°F/27°C. It’s also one of the driest months averaging less than .5 inches of rain for the entire month. Picture blue sky days and beautiful evenings.
• Whales: One of my favorite parts of Puerto Vallarta is that the bay it’s located on is a birthing spot for Humpback whales. The whales are incredibly active and you’ll likely be able to see mother whales guiding their new babies. I highly recommend spending half of your day on a whale watching excursion.
• Tourism: From the end of November through April Puerto Vallarta experiences their tourism season with two major peaks centered around winter break and spring break. This means that February is when the city experiences a lull, but everything is open and reservations are much easier to come by!

2. thailand

If you’ve read other articles on my blog then you know that I love Thailand. I couldn’t just pick one city in specific Northern Thailand’s cities, like Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, are gorgeous this time of year, but so are the beaches and islands in Southern Thailand. No matter which city or cities you pick to visit, you’ll be overwhelmed by the beauty of this incredible country. I also think that Thailand has one of the best and most affordable food scenes in the world.

Why did I choose this as one of the best places to visit in February?

• Weather: February in Thailand is absolutely beautiful. The average temperature in the North is around 88°F/31°C and in the South is 90°F/32°C. Thailand can be incredibly hot and humid, and there is also a monsoon season so visiting Thailand during February is truly the perfect time to visit.
• Chiang Mai Flower Festival: The first week of February brings the gorgeous Chiang Mai Flower Festival. The beautiful blooms are displayed on floats, in processionals and more. If you’re a flower lover, then this is for you!
• Lunar New Year: In Thailand many residents celebrate the Lunar New Year which typically falls in February. This is a fantastic celebration to experience.

3. AndorrA la vella, andorra

Andorra is a tiny country nestled in the Pyrenees that is surrounded by both France and Spain. Andorra is the 16th smallest in the world and is predominantly the undeveloped magnificent mountains. Riding the gondola up from the city to the top is like entering a snow globe. The stone mountain villages are everything you’d expect for a ski resort town or rather, ski resort country.

Why did I choose this as one of the best places to visit in February?

• Weather: February in Andorra is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for a winter wonderland. The average temperature at the base of the mountain averages around 39°F/4°C. It also snows around 14 days of the 28 day month.
• Tourism: Many tourists looking for a ski vacation are choosing places that are more talked about on social media like Swiss or the French Alps. Andorra is somewhat of an “if you know, you know” location that won’t cause you to pay exorbitant prices or wait in astonishingly long lines for the lifts.
