There are countless fabulous places to visit in November and I’m sharing my favorite ideas here for you! November is a great time to visit many places because it’s after the summer travel rush, and before the holiday travel rush in December.
I chose these destination based on:
- Places I’ve personally loved to traveling to
- When the weather is nice (not too hot and not too cold)
- When it isn’t the peak tourism season, so that you can beat the crowds and avoid exorbitant prices.
This post is all about places to visit in November!
1. tokyo and kyoto, Japan
Japan is truly such a special place to visit. Since my first trip there in 2024 it’s been in my top 5 countries that I’ve visited of all time list. The food scene is phenomenal, the parks and gardens are outstanding, the architecture is awe-inspiring and you’ll leave eager to book a return trip.
Some people argue that you should book your trip in April for the cherry blossoms, or during the winter for skiing, but I personally think November is the best time to book.
Why did I choose this city as one of the best places to visit in November?
- Weather: Japan has a long fall and a long spring, which makes it perfect for exploring. The November average temperature in Tokyo is 63°F/17°C, and in Kyoto is 65°F/18.5°C.
- Sports: November is a great season to visit Japan to see sports. While the baseball season finishes up in October, there are many other great sports to watch. There is a 15 day Sumo tournament, the Kendo championship takes place in Tokyo and there are plenty of both basketball and soccer games.
- Fall Foliage: November is the peak time to see the gorgeous red maple leaves and the vibrant golden gingko leaves.

2. madrid, spain
November is a fantastic time to visit major European cities. Madrid, is one of my favorite cities in the world as it is packed with great food, art, history, plazas, activities, and more. Think churros con chocolate, midday day siestas, soccer matches, late night dinners and amazing markets.
Madrid, the capital of Spain is centrally located in the country making it a great starting place to go and visit other destinations within the country.
Why did I choose this city as one of the best places to visit in November?
- Weather: The November average temperature in Madrid is 56°F/13°C. Personally, when walking thousands of steps per day exploring a new city I prefer it to be on the cooler side making November the perfect month. If I’m not exploring the beaches in the Mediterranean then I would much prefer a cheaper month to visit Europe.
- Soccer/Fútbol: Soccer season begins in August and goes through May. There are four different teams based in Madrid that are part of the top-tier division of La Liga: Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano. This makes seeing a match during your trip much easier!

3. luang prabang, laos
Luang Prabang is one of the best places to visit in November. It’s an incredibly underrated city and deserves so much love. It’s sadly overshadowed by many of the surrounding cities in Southeast Asia like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Singapore, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Luang Prabang is a smaller sized city, which makes exploring much more manageable. It’s full of intricately designed colorful temples, delicious food, amazing street food markets and one of my favorite waterfalls in the world.
Why did I choose this city as one of the best places to visit in November?
- Weather: Luang Prabang is notoriously hot, so visiting when the temperature is a bit milder is ideal. Not only is it cooler, but it’s also part of the dry season so you don’t need to worry about monsoons. The November average temperature is 82°F/28°C.
- Natural Beauty: Speaking of monsoons, now that the monsoon season is over the rivers are rushing and waterfalls are at their most powerful.
