Packing can be stressful. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a month-long adventure it can take a lot of planning. Here is my list of travel essentials that I swear by, to make your upcoming travel easier and more comfortable.

1. The ultimate travel backpack
When I purchased this backpack in 2023 I was eager to see how it would last and if I’d like it’s unique structure. Now, 3 years later, I am constantly recommending this backpack to anyone and everyone.
This backpack has been with me to more than 25 countries, in rain, snow and sun. It’s been above the article circle and below the equator. It still looks brand new – nothing has broken and nothing is fraying or faded.
2. my favorite carry-on luggage
Investing in a good, high-quality, piece of luggage is absolutely worth while. After investing in this piece, it has traveled everywhere with me. It fits in the overhead compartment on most flights, it’s compact, the wheels are phenomenal and it holds plenty of items. I’ve thrown it on tuk tuks, chucked it on long-tail boats, wheeled it through snow and sand and it’s held up incredibly well. These pieces of luggage also come in a wide array of colors making them standout from other pieces of luggage in the airport.
3. compression packing cubes
To have or not to have? Packing cubes have completely changed my packing experience. Personally, I find that regular packing cubes are a waste of space, but compression packing cubes are a game changer. The compression feature removes most of the air and unused space out of the cubes, making packing much easier. It’s also a phenomenal way to organize your clothes, so that you can find things without digging through your bag.
4. 3.4 oz liquid travel tubes
Whether you’re going on a weekend trip or traveling for months, these liquid travel tubes are one of my favorite travel essentials. Personally, I like to fill them with hair conditioner, dish soap to clean water bottles, laundry detergent, makeup remover and more! They’re all leak proof, easy to clean and carry-on luggage TSA size approved!
5. global adapter
Finding an adapter that doesn’t come with multiple piece to keep track of is a win in my book. This adapter has a slider (shown above) that allows you to move the prongs in and out of the block depending on what type of outlet you’re using. It has three USB ports on the bottom, two USB-C ports on the side and a regular outlet plug-in on the front.
6. compression socks
Compression socks are a newer travel essential for me. Longer flights can cause blood to pool in your legs and can increase the risk of blood clots. Medications like chemotherapy, birth control, menopause hormone medications or patches and corticosteroids can increase the likelihood of developing blood clots.
These compression socks have been wonderful on long-haul flights, and the increased circulation, prevents swelling and decreases fatigue.

7. scrunchies
I always like to pack plenty of ponytails, scrunchies or hair-ties when going on a trip. The slip brand is made of silk and is more forgiving on your hair minimizing kinks in your hair, and breakage. I personally think that these are wonderful and worth the price.
8. face sunscreen
Sun protection is crucial when traveling. Even if you’re walking around a city, not lying on the beach, you still need to protect your skin. This product is one that I’ve used for years and find to be gentle on my skin, not oily or tacky, and light-weight. It also doesn’t leave behind a white cast that many sunscreens tend to do.
9. my all-time favorite pj set
I am truly obsessed with these pajamas. They’re incredible for lounging around, getting ready for a night out, taking a midday siesta and make any new bed while traveling easier to sleep in. These are a great gift, they aren’t bulky in your luggage and they bring the comforts of home with you on the road.
10. cashmere wrap
My mom definitely got me into the cashmere wrap while traveling and I am forever grateful. Whether you’re on a flight that’s far too cold, wanting to add an accessory to an outfit to make it look more elevated, or wanting to add a layer in case of a change in weather this wrap is perfect. I like the wrap size instead of the scarf size because it can act as a blanket and keep me warm. It’s also easy to wear in an airport and on the plane so you don’t have to worry about packing it in your luggage.
11. all-terrain water shoes
I have truly been converted into a water shoe lover. Whether you’re going on a hike that traverses through a rocky river bed, enjoying the rocky beaches in the mediterranean or walking around a hot city these shoes are versatile, practical and so comfortable. The shoe has great grip, it stays on your foot easily and doesn’t leave you with blisters between your toes.
12. hydrating face moisturizer
Moisturizer is essential when traveling because of the changes in weather, humidity, and the dry airplane cabin. I always make sure to bring a small moisturizer with me when traveling and this one does a great job.
13. lip mask
Similar to the face moisturizer, I really hate the feeling of dry lips and spending a long time on a plane can zap the moisture out of your lips. This sleeping mask, that I wear all-day, is thicker and more moisturizing than a regular lip gloss or lip balm. I’ve recommended this product to friends and family and I’ve yet to find someone who doesn’t love it.
14. polarized sunglasses
Sunglasses are the easiest things to forget when packing, but are such an important item to have. In almost any travel scenario you’ll be glad to have sunglasses, and especially ones that are polarized. These are my favorite pair right now.
15. compactible puffer jacket
This puffer jacket is a fantastic invention. It’s comfortable, lightweight, but keeps you incredibly warm. It comes with a small bag that the entire jacket can pack down into making it incredibly convenient to pack. Both my boyfriend and I bought these for out long-term travel adventure and were so glad that we did.
16. no-show socks (that Actually stay up)
No-show socks are great in theory, but very few of them stay up on your heel after taking a few steps. These are the only socks I’ve found that actually stay up and are comfortable. They don’t strangle your feet, they aren’t paper thin and they continue to work wash after wash.
17. silk sleep mask
I am newly converted to the sleep mask as a travel essential. This sleep mask has a pouch that protects your eyes/eyelashes, which I really appreciate not having pressing on my eyes while I’m sleeping. The silky texture, comfortable elastic band and sleek design are all wonderful. I don’t travel on flights without this now. It’s also great when traveling to places that have the midnight sun, or hotels that are in cities with lots of lights. Making sure you can have complete darkness when falling asleep has been a game changer for me.
18. flattering jean shorts
Jean shorts are an item of clothing that I rarely think feel comfortable, flatter and aren’t awkward fitting. These are high rise, curve friendly and the perfect length and fit on the thigh. I went with two friends recently out to a baseball game and all three of us were wearing these exact shorts!
19. cozy rollneck sweater
This sweater has recently become my favorite. It’s oversized, the roll-neck and roll-sleeves are cute and comfortable and it comes in SO many different colors. I have it in cream and navy and wear them all the time.
20. cute and practical shoes
Sneakers are easily the most comfortable and practical shoe choice when exploring a city or while traveling. I’ve found that these shoes have the practicality of sneakers while having more of a cute look than traditional sneakers.
21. airfly bluetooth connection
If you find yourself wishing that you could use your airpods or wireless headphones while watching a movie on the plane then here is the hack for you! This little device plugs into the headphone jack on your airplane armrest or on the seat-back tv and allows you to connect via bluetooth.
22. Apple airtag
I didn’t start using an Apple Airtag until we started traveling full-time and I decided that knowing where my suitcase is, is great for my peace of mind. I just slip the Airtag into the lining of my suitcase and in the FindMy app on your iPhone will tell you where your suitcase is. For less than $30, knowing where your suitcase is seems worth it to me. You can also buy a pack of 4 for less than $100.
23. reusable waterbottle (Protected straw)
Buying water in the airport is one of the easiest ways to to start overspending on your travels. I always like to travel with a reusable water bottle and I’ve found that recently this one has become my favorite. The straw aspect of the bottle is tucked away and protected so you won’t need to worry about it getting gross. It also comes in so many fun colors.
24. power bank
I truly believe that having a power bank while traveling is one of the most essential items of all of the travel essentials. You never know when you’re going to need to recharge whether it’s to use your phone’s map while on a roadtrip, in a foreign country’s customs to show your visa or just exploring a new place and taking lots of photos. Knowing that you have backup is always reassuring.
25. mini coin purse
Another travel essential that you may not think about is a coin purse! In the US coins aren’t nearly as valuable or common as they are when traveling. Especially in countries that use the Euro! There are even €1 and €2 coins which are worth $1.16 and $2.31. You can use just one or two coins to pay for snacks, tapas, or drinks. Having a coin purse helps you keep track of your coins and helps to mitigate coming home from a trip with heaps of unspent coins.
26. electrolyte packets
I think traveling with electrolyte packs is a great idea. If you get a stomach bug, are in a very hot location, at high altitude or are very active during your travels replenishing your electrolytes and rehydrating is key.
I personally like this brand because it uses real sugar as opposed to stevia, monkfruit or aspartame. The firecracker popsicle flavor is my favorite, but when you click the link you’ll see all of their amazing flavor choices. The little sticks are incredibly easy to pack making them perfect for travel.
27. toilet paper to-go
This might seem ridiculous but, when it comes in handy, you’ll thank me later. Whether you’re in a restroom that’s run out of toilet paper, you have a bloody nose, road trips or camping, you never know when you’ll need it.
