3 Beautiful Beaches in Montenegro You Must Visit

Montenegro, is one of the Mediterranean’s best kept secrets. The beaches here rival the more heavily touristed destinations and are a fraction of the cost. Though there are many beautiful beaches, these are the 3 best beaches in Montenegro.

This post is all about the most beautiful beaches in Montenegro!

* Exploren Lauren Tip: Beaches in Montenegro are very rocky. I chose to pack these shoes and wore them all the time. It was incredibly easy to get in and out of the water comfortably. I never had to worry about my shoes falling off or breaking like I would with flip flops.

Budva Beach
(The Lively & Fun Spot)

Budvais widely known as the party area in Montenegro. The big beautiful beach is home to lots of beach clubs with a wide variety of amenities.

There are many options for seating and comfort/luxury levels vary tremendously. We opted to stop and rent two chairs and an umbrella for 9 euros for the day. The Campari or Aperol Sprtiz (whichever you prefer) cost 7 euros each.

While we were here during a shoulder season, there were still signs of the party season just weeks prior. Big speakers and party lights were just a few of things we noticed. This beach also is right in the heart of Budva so it requires very little transportation if you’re staying in the area.

Plavi Horizonti Plaza
(The Local/Hidden Spot)

The secret local spot. Sandy beaches in Montenegro are hard to come by. The sand here is powdery and has a slightly red hue. Whether it’s early in the morning, or late in the afternoon, the beach is quieter and definitely less touristy.

If you’re looking for a great spot to catch some rays and indulge in a new book, this spot is for you.

When you’re ready for a dip in the sea you’ll find the most gradual entrance. It felt absolutely divine to walk so far away from the beach and be only a few feet deep in the water.

Even when you’re in 10-15 ft. deep water, you’ll realize that you can still perfectly see the bottom of the ocean which is such a calming feeling while blissfully swimming in the Montenegrin water.

Sveti Stefan Beach
(The Dreamy/Favorite Spot)

Overall, of the three top beaches in Montenegro, Sveti Stefan reigns supreme. The stunning red-rocked beach and crisp, clear waters are great, but the quaint European red-roofed village in the backdrop takes this beach to the next level.

The water is remarkably clear and the rocky beach slopes gently allowing you to go far from shore and still touch the bottom. Though it may be nerve-wracking for some to go that far from shore in the ocean, you can rest assured as the water is clear and the visibility is impeccable.

The smaller beach off to the right is private and can go for as much as 200 euro per day. While the larger, equally as beautiful beach on the left is free. There is also an option to rent two chairs and umbrella for a much more reasonable price of 15-20 euros per day.
